I grew up alongside the most magical wizarding world of its time, Harry Potter. Funny enough, I didn't even find it the "usual" way. I first met it on a school picnic, of all places, watching Prisoner of Azkaban on a big screen with my classmates. And that was it. I was completely, hopelessly in love.
I remember asking my father for the Harry Potter CDs soon after, and when he finally brought them home, I couldn't hold back my tears. Just pure, uncontainable excitement to watch it all over again, on my own, whenever I wanted.
And then there was the cake. That iconic cake. I wanted a look-alike of it for years, genuinely years, but never once found a baker who could bring it to life the way I imagined. Which, I'll admit, is a little funny to say out loud. It's just a cake, right? But I'm no baker myself, so who am I to say it's simple.
Still, every single time I watched those movies, something in me softened. It just felt nice.
Through the 2000s, I lived for it, rushing to the theatres the moment a new film released, then waiting, so eagerly, for the Blu-ray and DVDs to finally land on the shelves of my favourite CD store.
Simpler times, really. And even now, watching Harry Potter still feels like stepping back into them. It's comforting, like a small, familiar hug from the past.
